Today, I am sad. My best friend, the Innkeeper Assistant for our bed and breakfast, went away to college. Molly got accepted to Simpson University and is in Redding, California. It is a great honor and my owner's are happy for her even though they had to do ALL the work yesterday! They kept mumbling, "I wish Molly was here." The good news is that Molly promised to come back next summer and be the Innkeeper Assistant again. Her sister, Jess, is going to help a little while it is still busy. I like her, but she doesn't let me lick her face with my stinky breath the way Molly did. I'm not going to let Molly forget me. I am going to send her my blog and let her know everything that I am doing. Well, almost everything. Even a dog has secrets.

My masters got to go on a very special trip this week. They told me all about it. They went out with Shearwater Kayak Tours! They went on the moonlight tour and it was so beautiful! I'm so jealous, I wish that I could have gone with them! They even saw seals! I don't know what I would have thought about that, maybe I would want to chase them!
Shearwater has a lot of fun tours. They have daytime, sunset and moonlight 3-hour tours, as well as a longer day trip.

There are a lot of exciting things happening on Orcas Island! The Chamber Music Festival is August 9th to the 24th, featuring many talented musicians. Chris Peacock, a wonderful pianist, plays every Monday through Saturday from 4 to 5 at Rosario. I hope that my masters will go to some of these events so that I can listen from the car! There is also an Orcas Island Artists' Studio Tour, where you can visit the studios of 31 local artists! The Studio Tour takes place Friday, August 16th to Sunday, August 18, 11 am to 5 pm each day. I hope that you will have the opportunity to attend some of these exciting events!

I took my master to the dock last night and showed him all the sailboats. I knew that he would enjoy watching the sailboat race, because he loves boats. I know a lot of things about my master because he is my best friend. He knows all about what I like, too, like swimming and chasing rabbits. I especially love sticks, though! Molly is another one of my good friends. We go on walks together sometimes and today, on our walk, I found the most wonderful stick! I brought it all the way home and left it outside of the gate, just in case I need it later!

This week we had a very small pet guest! His name was Cyrus and he only weighed 9 pounds! One of my masters thought at first that he was a Chihuahua, but he was actually a Miniature Pinscher. Molly told me that she knows somebody who used to have a Miniature Pinscher that knew a very special trick. Whenever anybody would ask if he was a Chihuahua his owner would ask him, "Are you a Chihuahua, or would you rather be dead," and he played dead! I thought that that was a pretty cool trick, so I thought that I would practice doing it myself! I guess that I would rather be dead!

Whale Watching
It's getting to be a great time of the year to go whale watching! A lot of our guests like to take advantage of the wonderful opportunities to go out on the water and see these magnificent creatures. They sometimes also see seals and bald eagles! Personally, I think that I would be a little scared to see a whale, but I think that it would be fun to jump out into the water to chase the birds! It is a fun outing to spend time with your loved ones and meet some new people, too!
Here are the whale watching websites. Check them out if you think that you would like to go out on a tour!
