One of my favorite places is the Orcas Island History Museum. And one of my favorite activities is when they do an historical tour of some nature on the island. The Blue Heron B&B was one of the historical lodgings among several available to tour two years ago. We researched past owners and got copies of all the deeds. We discovered that the property had first been homesteaded in 1898 by French Canadians. A well known island family, the Flahertys, lived in the house the longest and built a playhouse on the water for their children. Lucky kids!
